To help supplement the income you make with your business, you can register as an Amazon Associate. This affiliate program allows you to create an online storefront where you can market items that Amazon already sells, in addition to listing items from your own inventory. Once your store is created, you can embed it on your business website to help generate traffic and entice potential customers. Beginning affiliates receive a 6 percent commission rate, while successful long-time affiliates can earn up to 15 percent.
Step 1Visit the Amazon Associates Web page. If you already have a basic Amazon account, use your existing username and password to log in. If you do not yet have an account, create one and then use your information to log in to the Associates program.
Step 2Complete the Affiliate application once you have logged in. Enter all of the required personal information and then provide a brief profile of your business website along with its URL. Click “Submit” at the bottom of the application once you complete it.
Check your email regularly for a confirmation email from the Amazon Affiliate program. Click the activation link within the email and then log in to your new Affiliate account.
Step 4Select the “aStore” tab from the top menu and then select the “Build an aStore Now” button from the top right corner of the screen. Add a store page by selecting the “Add a Category” button. Give the page a name that corresponds to the type of products you will be listing on it.
Step 5Click the radio button that corresponds to your desired product display option. The choices allow you to browse for products yourself, choose products from Amazon Listmania listings or select items from “best selling” listings arranged by category.
Step 6Add products to your store by entering the item number or selecting them from one of your chosen listings. Choose products that complement the goods or services offered by your business. For example, if you operate a photography studio, select best-selling digital cameras, tripod stands and studio lighting equipment.
Step 7Arrange the products as desired and then click the “Return to Category Page” link at the top of the menu. Select the “Continue” button at the bottom of the screen to proceed.
Step 8Select your desired theme and color scheme from the drop-down menu at the top of the screen. Once you have decided on a theme, you can customize the color scheme by selecting a color box from each of the various sections that make up your store’s layout.
Step 9Enter the name of your store into the “Name Your Store” field. If desired, you may upload a graphical banner image using the field at the bottom of the page. Click the “Continue” button to proceed.
Place the widget sidebar on the right or left of your store’s page using the appropriate radio button. At this point, you can add various widgets to the sidebar such as “Similar Items,” “Customers Who Bought This Also Bought…” and other profit-
Step 11Click “Finish & Get Link” at the bottom of the page. You will be provided with a direct URL to your storefront as well as an embed code which you can paste into your website’s HTML.
